Yesterday, we reported that a number of 2021 Ford F-150 owners were using their pickups’ Pro Power Onboard generators to power their homes with great success. These stories have garnered a lot of attention across the nation as it struggles with a rough winter storm, and of course, The Blue Oval itself has taken notice, as Ford is asking its Texas dealers to loan trucks equipped with Pro Power Onboard generators out to residents who don’t currently have electricity.
As an incentive to get dealers to take this action, Ford is offering $600 more than it typically does to dealers who place one of these specially-equipped Ford F-150 pickups into loaner fleets. According to the automaker, there are currently 415 trucks sitting on dealer lots that are equipped with a built-in generator. After the trucks have been used for this purpose, they can then be sold to retail customers during March’s “Truck Month” promotion.
“For well over a century, Ford Motor Company and our dealer partners have been there to support and serve our communities in time of need,” Ford said in a letter it sent to Texas dealers. “Our Texas communities need all the support they can get right now. You can make a significant difference in our community by providing assistance during these very tough times.”
